New information added (first version was published at 13 :42)
The close circles of the family of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani today refuted the information spread by several Arab media outlets regarding an attempt at the Emir, in which he was wounded, and eight of his bodyguards were killed, ITAR-TASS reported. “These rumors are untrue and have no real justification,” a source close to the family of the Emir said today.

The Egyptian El Fagr newspaper reported that the escort of the Emir experienced an attack in Doha, when the head of state was going to his palace after meeting with the Russian ambassador in one of the palaces in the Qatari capital. The newspaper confirms that a suicide bomber rammed a car into the column of cars, as a result of which eight bodyguards were killed, and the Emir was wounded in the thigh. The newspaper said skirmish occurred during the attack. The same information was today published by the Algerian Al-Fajr newspaper.
Meanwhile, the Russian Embassy in Doha also denied the report. The third secretary of the embassy Alex Kocheshkov said “this information does not correspond to reality”, ITAR-TASS reported. “The media reports that there was a meeting with Russian ambassador have no grounds, since the head of the diplomatic mission was on vacation at this time and no meeting was scheduled,” he said.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) – According to Egypt’s al-Fajr newspaper, unknown gunmen attacked the Qatari Emir’s motorcade near his palace on Monday.
The Egyptian newspaper said Sheikh Hamad has reportedly been injured in the attack and was taken to hospital, adding that eight of the Emir’s bodyguards were killed in the incident.
Al-Fajr says a media blackout has been imposed on the incident with Qatari officials refusing to comment on the incident.
Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador to Qatar Abdollah Sohrabi has denied Sheikh Hamad’s assassination report, saying that the Emir is currently in the French capital, Paris.
Sheikh Hamad has ruled the Persian Gulf state since 1995. He came to power after deposing his father in a palace coup and was crowned on June 2000.

Motorcade of Qatar’s Emir attacked after meeting with Russian ambassador. Emir injured

The head of Qatar, Emir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani was attacked in his country, report Arab media outlets. As a result of the attack on the motorcade of the monarch, his 8 bodyguards were terminated. He was wounded, but survived. The family of the Qatar’s Emir is trying to refute this information, but does it anonymously. “This is a rumor that is untrue and have no ground”, said a source close to the family of the ruler. Meanwhile, according to Egyptian newspaper Al-Fagr, the attack on the motorcade of the Emir was took place in Doha on his way to palace. The ruler was returning there after a meeting with the Russian ambassador.
According to one version, a motorcade of the Emir had an accident, after which a gunman opened fire on the vehicles, in one of which sat the Qatari Emir together with accompanying persons. According to other versions, a Martyr in an explosive-laden car crashed into the ruler’s convoy, causing an explosion. As a result 8 bodyguards were killed, but the Emir was only injured, this time at least. Earlier, there were several reports in the Arab press about different attempts on Qatari Emir’s life. The Emir has long displeased certain circles of local society. The opposition accuses him of corruption and of having ties with a so-called “Israel”. In March this year, there were reports saying that a coup to overthrow Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani has been uncovered in the country. As claimed, the coup has been planned by a group of officers headed by Chief of General Staff of the armed forces. 30 conspirators were arrested.
A Qatari TV channel, Al-Jazeera, which blatantly claims to have played the leading role in covering the events of the Arab Revolutions, reported nothing about the attempt to overthrow the rule of the dictator. It is to be recalled that the Emir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani also came to power during a palace coup – in 1995 he dethroned his own father. In past years, the country has already seen attempts of a violent change of the power, but they were rebuffed. It is to be recalled that ex-president of the CRI Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev in was killed in a Russian terrorist attack Qatar in February 2004. The terrorist act was organized by the Russian embassy in Qatar, and the direct supervisor of the assassination of Yandarbiyev was the first secretary of the Russian embassy. Russian terrorists with diplomatic passports were detained by Qatar’s authorities with help from the United States. But after a while, after an agreement with Moscow, the killers were released and sent back to Russia, where they were greeted at the airport as heroes and walked on a red carpet on the ramp.

Only now I learn about the event that eventually occurred last year but it appears
to me a “provocation” fabricated by the enemies of Amir.
My own esteem towards Amir Hamad stands since many years ago; I sent Him my gratulations as well as the gratulations of a Vatican Cardinal – now died – at the time
after He took over the responsibility of Qatar … He was kind to respond to me
through the service of Shaikh Mohamed bin Fahd al-Thani the president of Amiri
Protocol to whom, by a phone call, I expressed the desire to be invited to Doha on
the occasion of Qatar National Day. No reply after this call until now.
Anyway let me take this occasion to wish H.H.the Amir all the best jointly with his
People, and the hope to be able to visit Him in Doha.
Dr. ANTONIO SAURO
I think the same, it was a provocation, probably a black psyops of some enemies for the help given by the Emir of Qatar to the bloody coup in Libya.
